Awesome #6 -- My cool Nephew Ryan
Ryan already knows he's cool, but I'll say it anyway. I've known him since he was born, even before he was officially my nephew. He is a super-smart and super-special kid, and we all think he's awesome. Plus, he is 15 today! (Oh my gosh, how did that happen?!) Happy Birthday Ryan!
Awesome #5
Last Sunday, in a sports bar/restaraunt, an infomercial for the Genie Bra was playing on one of the big screens (who knows why). My sweet Nathan points at the screen, and says (loudly), "Mama, you need that!!!!!" He and James laughed for 10 minutes. awesome.

The sweetest boy who says "I love you Aunt Susie" several times a day whenever I visit. His 7th birthday was Saturday, and we all got to celebrate with him. Totally Awesome!

Awesome #2 -- Girl Scouts
I've had the best time helping with Emily's Brownie troop this year. There are 24 girls, 2nd and 3rd graders and they are so much fun. We have gone camping and canoeing, spent the night at a childrens' museum and the aquarium, visited an animal hospital and a nursing home, learned new songs and dances, and of course, sold cookies! I have to get Emily a new sash for next year, her old one is completely full of patches for activities and badges earned just this year.

My Own Book of Awesome
Because I've been thinking about things that make me happy lately.
1. Little Boys' Hair when they wake up in the morning. Sticking out in all directions and so adorable. (I would put a picture of Nate's hair up, but he wouldn't let me take his picture)

Etiquette Lessons
Before.....
(Kylie has Emily in a headlock while her best friend Leona laughs)
After.....
I told them to sit up and act like nice young ladies so I could take their picture.
Anyway, a nice lady from the community college came to teach the girls about table manners, place settings, etc. I think they enjoyed it.
They learned a lot, but I think maybe they might need a few more lessons to remember it all.......

Easter
The Easter Egg Hunt at Cedar Ridge
Attempting to get a good picture of the kids in their Easter outfits. Nathan took off his good shirt and refused to put it back on.

Girl Scout Thinking Day
We are all about scouts around here lately. Emily's Brownie Troop participated in Thinking Day with other Troops from the area on Saturday. Each troop choses a country to represent, and Emily's chose China.
Emily had a sleepover the night before and was beyond tired. She refused to wear her kimono (and yes, I am aware that a kimono is Japanese, not Chinese), so Hailey wore it instead.
Sophia, looking adorable
The girls made a display with facts about China
The only picture I got of Emily, as she was not in the best of moods. But the girls had a good time handing out lo mein noodles, eggrolls, and rice bowl pins made from bottle caps, yarn and toothpicks for chopsticks (so cute!)
Pinewood Derby
There was not enough room to have the derby in the church where the cub scouts usually meet, so they had it at the Ace Hardware store in Sapulpa. (James is helping judge the winners while Papa takes pictures)
Nathan and his purple, red and green racecar. There was a prize for fastest car and coolest looking car. Nathan's car tied for first in coolest-looking. He would have won, but he insisted that I cast my vote (only the parents and family members could vote) for another car that he liked.
Nate's 7th Birthday
How is it that Nate is 7 already?
Of course, he wanted his birthday party to be at Bounce U
Happy Birthday Nathan!

Family Camping at Camp Swannie
It wasn't "glamping", but it was definitely girl camping (even though Nathan and James came too).
Making pinwheels
Getting ready to hike
Playing croquet
Decorating cupcakes
Emily slept in a tent (called "yurts" at Girl Scout camp), but mom was too chicken/tired/wimpy, and slept in the cabin.

Snow Month
Actually just 2 weeks out of school for snow days, but it felt like a month. Emily and Corinne decided to earn their snow day badge for Girl Scouts by making snow angels, building a snow baby and packing the rockwall in back with snow to make a slide (yikes!) Luckily there was plenty of snow to put on the rockwall and slide down without getting too banged up. Nathan played it smart and stayed in the house for 2 weeks. We are finally back in school and making up the lost days by going 10 minutes early and 20 minutes late every day till the end of the year.

A Bugz' Christmas
Emily's Christmas play was called "A bugz' Christmas". There were ladybugs, butterflies, grasshoppers, fleas, termites and ants. Emily was a beatle (as in the band), and one of her good friends was the queen bee. It was really cute, all the kids did a great job!
